--I Am Never Broken--
Amy Marie 03/26/10
It has been a while since I've updated this site, but when Alexiel.net went down, I decided the time was right to update the layout here. The old one was nice, but I like the functional simplicity of this new one.
Hands is dedicated to the character Mitsukake from the manga series Fushigi Yuugi by Yuu Watase and the anime of the same title. Fushigi Yuugi was a popular title from the 1990's which consisted of 18 manga volumes and 52 anime episodes. Eventually several prequal novels as well as 9 OVA episodes were produced, but those are not included in the information on this site.
The story is about a girl, named Miaka, and her friend Yui, who find an ancient book and are pulled into a strange world. The friends become priestesses of two different warring nations, meaning that they are enemies for much of the series. Miaka is priestess of the Country called Konan and she must summon the beast God, named Suzaku, in order to restore peace. To do this, she must collect the seven warriors, one of whom is Mitsukake, who happens to be the 6th warrior she collects. After a series of unfortunate events, her friend Yui becomes the priestess of a rival nation and starts to work against her friend. Although the story is an adventure story, at its heart is a love story between Miaka and one of her warriors named Tamahome.
Although it is a rather old series and certainly not as complex as some of the works that were popular at the same time, it does have some interesting characters, including Mitsukake, naturally. At one point, it had a big presence on the internet, with several fansite and charcter shrines. Now most of the sites are dead, but I hope that Hands will be around for a long time entertaining both old fans of the series and fans who have just discovered it.
Fushigi Yuugi, Mitsukake, and all related matters are © Yuu Watase and others. I claim no right to any of these properties and this site is fan content only.
